For the 7,000 m2 workshop floor, the epoxy resin flooring system Flowshield SL 1000 was chosen. Suitable for heavy-duty traffic, hardwearing and abrasion resistant, this flooring system needed to be able to withstand daily exposure to heavy vehicles, the risk of dropped tools as well as the weight of substantial two-post hoists.
Due to the constant presence of flammable diesel, petrol and hydraulic fluid being present, chemical resistance was an absolute must for the client, who needed a lasting floor finish that wouldn’t spoil when exposed to such substances. The seamlessness of the system also means that any spillages can be quickly cleaned away, without hiding in joints and becoming a fire risk.
For the parts store, 600 m2 of the water-based floor coating system Flowseal EPW was used to provide a coloured, semi-gloss finish in areas of light traffic. This flooring system was vapour permeable, seamless and non-dusting, meaning that it could be kept clean easily, whilst allowing moisture in or beneath the floor coating to disperse.
Part stores could go for days without being accessed, meaning that the ability to breathe will reduce the likelihood of moisture building and leading to damp conditions, and potentially spoiling parts being stored.
Installation was completed within the one-month time slot stipulated by the client, and Renew-It was ready to drive its business forwards.
