Flowcrete South Africa worked closely with SRF Limited to install the right solution in its manufacturing plant that would optimise the facility without disrupting day to day production.

SRF’s Hammersdale site, which produces packaging materials, needed to refurbish with a robust floor able to withstand the on-site abuses. After extensive consultations with Flowcrete South Africa to identify the ideal solution, the company chose to install Flowshield SL in a 2mm thick layer across 3,000m² of its facility.

However to ensure a high quality finish Flowcrete South Africa had to take into consideration several factors during the application process. Due to limited storage space only small sections of the floor could be worked on at any given time and the resin flooring specialists had to complete a substantial amount of repair work on the existing concrete substrate before the floor finish could be laid on top.

The self-smoothing epoxy system Flowshield SL creates an attractive, hard wearing finish, ideal for environments that require a level, easy to clean surface that aids on site productivity. It has been formulated specifically to withstand the long term abuses found in industrial facilities without deteriorating. These abuses include continuous foot and forklift traffic, frequent heavy impacts from machinery and exposure to harsh chemicals.

Flowshield SL can also be quickly installed and has a rapid speed of cure, which both minimises disruption to productive operations during refurbishments and allows for earlier follow on work during new-build projects.
