Meat World

Flowcrete South Africa has supplied a variety of floor finishes for Meat World in Gauteng’s Meadowdale Mall to create fit-for-purpose floors across both the public facing spaces and back of house areas.

550m2 of the seamless resin terrazzo system Mondéco Earth in a coconut colour was applied in the shop front. The floor in this part of the store needs to constantly convey a sanitary and decorative appearance to attract customers and reassure them of the location’s quality.

Mondéco Earth was chosen thanks to its ability to combine attractive aesthetics with a seamless, impervious finish that helps to keep the store clean and safe. Ornamental aggregates are incorporated within a Mondéco finish to create a shimmering, luxurious effect across the floor.

To ensure that the risk of contamination incidents is minimised as much as possible in the back of house areas, where there is a working butchery, 1,000m2 of the antimicrobial enhanced floor finish Flowfresh RT was applied. This system includes the bactericidal agent Polygiene®, which is able to eliminate up to 99.9% of bacteria in contact with the floor.

Thanks to the durability of these systems, Meat World will be able to maintain appealing, functional and hygienic floors for an extended period of time despite the foot traffic, exposure to meat and food by-products, regular cleaning and wear that they will face.

It took four weeks to complete the flooring project. During this time Flowcrete South Africa’s approved applicator had to cope with a lack of lighting and water. To solve these problems a generator and a water tanker were brought to the site so that the flooring installation could continue unhindered.
